Do you prefer the V notch rear sights or the square notch rear sights?

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the board and trying to make up my mind between a "Pre-War" with a BP or CP frame.  I like the idea of the BP being period correct for a 19th century sixshooter, but I'm wondering if the V notch and front blade sight is that much harder to aim for CAS ???

Can you guys help me out by giving me some opinions about shooting with the V notch-blade sight vs. the square notch-square sight?  Which do you prefer?

Thanks,
Ray

The little V notch with the tapered front sight blade is not the thing for speed, especially if you are older and the old peepers don't focus as well as they used to.  Square notch and flat sided front sight is the way to go for CAS matches.

What Pettifogger said!  Sight acquisition is MUCH easier with the square notch rear sight.

When you reach a certain age that V notch and the thin black powder sight, well you just can't see it. The square notch and the bigger front sight is the way I have to go. Even take the blue off the rear of the front sight. Sure like my USFA revolvers though. TJ

Thanks for all the advice guys.  Looks like the square notch with thick blade is the way to go.  I have another decision to make before ordering one, so I'm off to make another post.

Thanks to all who replied,

I own two pre-wars w/ blackpower frames and a Rodeo II. These are my main match guns though I use several Uberties. The USFA guns all have the square notch sights which are much easier to pick up. You can order the sight that you want on any gun. My advice would be not to get the V-notch as they are very hard to pick up.
