I went to a store yesterday to look at two Uberi 1875 that they had.  One with the short barrel and the other with the 7 1/2 barrel.  I was thinking of taking one of these home with me.  That is, before I saw the ring marks around the cylinders of both guns.  I know how they got there too.  When I asked to see each, the clerk pulled the hammer back to half cock, oepened the loading gate and spun each cylinder and when it stopped, let the hammer down from half cock and turned the cylinder untill it locked in the cylinder notch!  It's a real shame that some clerks don't take the time to learn how to handle firearms properly.

I used to really hate the wire ties around the hammers of SA that some stores have as they are a real PITA to get off the gun but I now see the light.

Needless to say I didn't buy these particular guns.

Amen brother.  All the more reason to shop at a real gun store as opposed to some of the big chains.  When you buy guns from people who like guns, know guns, and work with them all the time, it's a very different world than purchasing from some college student working part-time who wants to sound like he/she knows everything about everything, but in reality demonstrate their ignorance at every sentence.  I know I don't know everything about everything, I actually know a great deal about a very little, and a very little about a great deal.  I want to learn more, hence I spend more time on Cas forum  than any other internet activity.  In fact, e-mail and this are about it for me as far as the internet goes. I find that real gun stores often have information I don't and if I'm a customer, they're willing to share.  Not every gun shop is perfect, mind you, but when you find one that actually has knowledgeable employees, you've found a home.

May we all find a good gun shop to call home!
A work in progress.
