New Stitching Horse

This is something a friend built for me. I gave him a picture of one I found online, and he did the rest. I wanted something I could move around, to use in the shop or in the living room. It works really well. The only thing left to do is glue some leather on the jaws to prevert possible marks on whatever I'm working on. It's 30 inches tall.

My friend, Mark, was laid off work in November, and is still looking for employment. He's an electrical engineer by trade, and works wood for a hobby. He is willing to build these if there is an interest. I'm also pointing him towards gun carts. He has a very complete wood shop, and knows what he's doing.

I'm still trying to get this photobucket thing going, so it might take a little bit to get it right

That's a fine stitching horse your friend made. That should do you well. It'll sure make stitching easier.

You have the photo insertion down, too. Looks good. Just remember that if you move your photos, they will disappear from your posts. The iconic ones that you browse to put in will always be there so if you want a post that people can see forever, use that method. I have to admit, the way you did these sure gives the reader a chance to see the details.

Thanks Marshall, I wanted people to see as much detail as possible. I had a heck of a time getting that last photo to post. Then I found a spot to share the whole album, but I didn't want to start over after already posting 4 of the 5 pictures.

It's really nice having something to hold the work while stitching. That little Tandy pony isn't too hot IMO. I like the one Chuck B has in his video, but he's sitting in a pretty deep chair. The chairs I'm using wouldn't work well to hold one like that

He didn't apply any finish in case I wanted to modify it, so I will eventually put some sort of stain-finish on it.

Mark did a fine job, and I appreciate having it. JD

I looked all over trying to find a place to buy one of these. When I couldn't find one, I talked to my friend about building one for me.
