Well... after one final SNAFU, I've finally taken possesion of my SASS Colt.  I picked it up yesterday and it is the most beautiful gun I've ever owned.  The last SNAFU was EMF failed to send a copy of their FFL along with the gun when they shipped it to my local gun shop.  The gun shop told me they couldn't release the gun to me without EMF's FFL.  Since I paid for the gun 2 years ago, along with the transfer fee, and since the local gun shop was no longer doing transfers and wasn't going to be making any more money on this particular transaction, they were choosing to just sit on their hands and do nothing while my SASS Colt sat on their shelf.  A call was put in to SASS, who called EMF.  EMF called my local gun shop and informed them they would send a copy of their FFL.  The gun shop said they didn't want it since they no longer do transfers.  EMF told them, "You're getting it anyway, since you now have the gun".  SASS also called my local gun shop and put a fire under them.
The gun shop called me yesterday and told me to come in and pick up my SASS Colt.  I did.  It's been slightly over 2 years to the day since I ordered it.  It looks like they've added a little extra engraving, maybe due to the delays like when they did my alias wrong on the back strap.  Anyway, it seems to be a little more engraving than is normal on a "B" engraved gun.

At tihis time I'd like to appologize to Cimarron Firearms Co. for mis-spelling their name in the previous post, although I'm sure everone who read it was aware of who I meant.
Also I'd like to give a big public THANK YOU to Donna at SASS Mercantile for all her help in getting my SASS Colt to me.  She is a wonderful person and was enormously helpful to me in this endeavor.  What ever SASS is paying her, it isn't enough.  Thank you Donna and God bless you!.  I'd also like to thank my wife, Maggie Three Feather, (I like to call her my bulldog), for making most of the needed phone calls to get things moving and keep things moving on this matter.  She's a keeper.

On a sad note, it seems that the SASS/Colt deal will soon be no more.  I was told a while back that Colt was not making any money on the SASS Colts and that they weren't happy with the deal.  Now i've been told that it will soon be anounced that SASS Colts will no longer be available.  That's a real shame for people who have dreamed of owning a SASS Colt made just for them or maybe been saving money to have one made.  I'm
sure glad I got mine in the nick of time.

Take care Pards...  good shooting and God bless.

I am glad you got yer gun and it is all you want. I can't believe that Colt is pullin the plug because "they aren't making any money on the deals" How much money are they making on the resurection of the Cowboy gun?  Some times it can't be all about the money. They could chuck up the SASS guns as "advertising" oh well, thats the way of business.

but you got your gun and that is what is important. Now we need pictures..

Bout dern time.  What a journey you've had.  If you have have any trouble with it, I'd go to a local smith an never send it back to the black hole.  All that aside, it's gotta feel great ta own a real Colt.  I'm glad it's over.

Thanks Pards!  I will try to get a picture on here as soon as I get the film developed.  The roll isn't finished yet.

Well, it's official.  The SASS Colts are no more.  The current ussue of the Cowboy Chronicle still has the full page ad for them but with a big red slash accross it that says "No Longer Available".   :'(

Personnally, I'd rather buy it plain jane, then customize it to make it a one of a kind Colt. 8)
A work in progress.

The SASS Colt is one of a kind.  It's serial number is your SASS badge number, your alias is engraved down the back strap and in the case of "The Marshall", it is engraved.
I guess it doesn't really matter anymore since they are no longer available, one would have to after-market customize it to make it one of a kind now.

I don't know if I'd call using a gunsmith "aftermarket" unless yer gun has parts on it that a smith would have to order from a company other than Colt.  There are still some fine craftsmen out there (but dang theys expensive).

So, how's it shootin?

Well Mr. Tanner, I haven't had an opportunity to shoot it yet.  Not sure if I want to...  but when I told that to a friend of mine he said, "Well if they delivered a Farrari to your house and parked it in the drive way, wouldn't you take it for a ride"?   :-\   ???

Gotta agree with yer friend's wisdom there.  All that time an money, heck I couldn't sleep at night without givin er a run around the block.
