In my earlier post I want to replace the front sight because it was damaged when it fell from my work bench due to one of the, now dearly departed, cats jumping up on the bench while I had the gun apart.  Since I was going to replace it I figured I had nothing to loose if I tried cleaning it up a little to see what would happen.

Okay, I managed to clean up the front sight of my Uberti Navy 51' R-M conversion with some judicious file work.  But now the pistol shoots about a 1 ½ inches to the left at 25 yards, whereas before the groups were centered but 6 inches low.  Now they are 3 inches low and 1 ½ inches left.  From which side of the front sight should I remove metal to center up the group?  I appreciate your help.

What happened to the Cat..........

Right side if you are filing it.   That is the same thing as moving it to the left..

Thanks Pard.  The cats is okay, but up until I could fix the damage, he was dead to me.

I got one hanging out by my song bird feeders, I don't want to harm the thing but if i find any feathers laying around it's going to get a "stimulus package" from me.  Actually I'll just relocate it to the other end of my road...

You can make a new beed for that gun by chucking up a piece of round stock(brass) in a drill and turning out a new one using files.  I've done it numerous times on 51navys..

Hey Pard,

Does the front sight unscrew like a shotgun bead?  It kind of looks like it would.
But how have you replaced your front sight?

Dalion,

The front sight is a press fit.  With maybe a little glue.
