I don't know why not. All you have to do is ream out the throats on the .44 Colt (modern) replacement cylinder so as to accept the .45 heel based bullet.

Seth, as the Kid has said, it should be easy 'nuff. However having had John Gren convert an 1860 Army to the "old" 44 Colt for me many years ago, I can only say good luck. Heel bullets are a real joy to deal with (sarcasm included), and are much more trouble than they are worth. That being said I wouldn't trade my experience with them for anything. I also just picked up a Richards II in 44 colt "new", so that I can play with that version as well. Not trying to talk you out of it as from your past post you are a man to ride the river with on conversions. RCBS does still make dies for loading the heel bullet 44 Colt, or at least they did, and you can still find both the Rapine and NEI 44 heeled bullet molds with a little looking. Also one of Mike Venturino's books on shooting old Colt's has a good section in it old shooting heeled bullets. Good luck with your project, I can't wait to see how it works for you. ;D
