Last June I got my Taylor & Co Spencer carbine in 45 Colt and have been using it as my SASS main match rifle ever since.  It is slower to run than my M-73 but who cares, I always max the style points.  Just finished shooting Winter Range and cleaned the match (12 stages, 115 rifle rounds).  I wasn't fast, but it sure feels good to be clean!

Sagebrush,

Congratulations on your (slow) clean match!

Do you do your own .45 colt loads?  Any personal loading information added to this thread would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Two Flints

Yes, I load my own.  Recipe is as follows:  Starline Brass, 260 grain RNFP (cast weight - I use the Lyman mold with the crimping groove), Winchester WLP primer, 7.0 W231.  This load chronos 850 fps in my 7 1/2" revolvers and 1020 fps in my 19" & 20" carbines.  It is about equivalent to original 45 Colt loading levels.  A very stout load by SASS standards these days but easy to shoot and feels just right to me.  Bead Swinger - Winter Range is a very fun shoot and, of course, even more so when I cleaned it.
