Mako,

They come in yet?
Thai Fighter,
Got  call from the dealer today, they are in, I'll pick them up tomorrow.  I am on pins and needles to see what I got.

I'll let you know,
Mako

What I'd really recommend is McDowell's book which goes into greater detail. I don't want to type that much tonight.
FCK,
I wanted a bed time story, can't you read me to sleep?

Thanks Pard I will get one some day, I keep hoping it will be republished.  I know I'll destroy the collectors value of a first edition by reading it a lot.

Regards,

Thai Fighter,
Here are the pistols I picked up Saturday.  They are sequential in serial number and have the correct length ejector installed.  PM me when you get some specifics like the serial numbers on your pair, I'll tell you why when you PM.

Abilene, please send me a PM when you get to a computer as well.

So here they are guys, the fabled unicorns of the Frontier Cartridge world,  Richards Type II Conversions in .44pl...

After I get the correct Trigger Guards on them and the barrels cut to my "gunfighter" length I'll post new pictures.

Mako, as you well know there are no hard & fast rules w/ Colt. Just when someone says never POOFF one appears. Just like iron backstrapped '51 Navies. London only, right? Wrong. Colt made a short run of them in the circa. #130,000 range & they're worth big bucks. A Colt worker merely reached into the bin & used what he pulled out, be it iron or brass IMO. Just my two cents.

P.S. The lower revolver looks like it has gorgeous burl.  ;)

Capt. Willard

Very nice!
If one can't have what Seth Hawkins just bought then these will do!!!
I love the bottom revolver the most!

Abilene

I just saw the inventory list and that last shipment did have a number of  8-inch .44 Colt, .44 Spcl, and 45LC Type II's, some still available.  Mako, I'd PM you but I'm only home briefly, heading out early tomorrow and no internet til next weekend.

BTW, Merry Xmas to you all!

Thai Fighter, looks like you've got bolt drag, or else someone rotated the cylinder when the the gun was not on half cock.

Yeah... I know.  They showed up that way from the Nate after he did the trigger work and custom firing pin treatment.  Whether they showed up to him like that from Cimarron, I don't know.  Though I hate to have the cylinders marred like that, my black powder clones look the same after use, so I just shrugged my shoulders and figured "whatever".  I don't think Nate would have done that and "not" told me about it.  He did say the guns locked up and over rotated a bit before he got to it.  I think they may have incurred the damage while he was checking them out, and in that case, they would have done the same in my hands.  So you see my train of thought there?  I'm not going to make a deal out of it.

The work is great, though one gun's spring is just a tad heavier than the other one, but Nate told me about that and it has to do with using a softer spring would make it lock-up or over rotate (I can't remember which).  I trust him and I'm ecstatic about what I got minus the drag marks.

TF, Those sure are handsome shootin' irons. You might want to try a Presto gun bluing pen from Birchwood Casey. It might not cover it completely, but it should tone it down considerably.

Thanks for the compliments!  I can only take credit for giving Cimarron my money  ;)

I've thought about the bluing pen myself, but put that on my continual "to do" list.  May get around to it, or may not  ;D

Just waiting for sometime and ammo to take them to the range and give them a proper welcome!

Nice brace of revolvers, Thai Fighter. Worth the wait.

I kinda agree with ya, if they're for shooting it may not matter too much about touching up the blueing. ;)

Yep John!  They're "shiny" now, but eventually they'll take on the desirable patina of use, holster wear, nicks and dings from banging up against stuff.

These irons aren't Harleys.  They aren't going to spend their time not used, being cleaned, rubbed, washed, and coveted from a chair and unridden.  I'm a gonna shoot these things.  I hope to get the signs of holster wear on the bluing and such very soon ;)
