Was talking to the folks at the local Tandy Leather Store today about the possibility of having a leatherworking seminar at the 2009 NCOWS Convention.

Pre-registration would be required, of course, and you would probably have to tell us in advance what you wanted to make.  I am thinking of items like holsters, gunbelts, cuffs, spur straps, etc.

There are a lot of details to work out, but what I want to know is this: who is attending the Convention, and would be interested in this?

Let me know, if there is enough interest I will set it up.

I would love to be able to make a holster with some guidance in a seminar. I've been saving one of Will Ghormley's plans for Slim Jim styles along with a hunk of hide for some time, just haven't gotten up the courage.
I can not see how much of anything could be accomplished unless it was an all day affair, though, and most likely on Saturday. It would kinda put a damper on attending other seminars scheduled during that day. But that would be the choice for those interested in attending that workshop.

As you get a better gauge on interest you'll have more details, I'm sure, Griz.

Howdy Griz,
Let's do it. If they need anybody to help out let me know. I'll be a teacher's assistant. :)
Just let me know the who where and when of it.

I have cobbled together a holster or two, it would be interesting to attend.

I think it is a great idea, and I would attend. I just would not want to take away from the other good seminars and also my opportunity to spend cash with the vendors!

I would be interested!

I have been wanting to learn leather working. Wood & steel isnt a problem but leather.... Its the devils own handywork ;)

One suggestion, make it a demonstration with Q&A; not a hands on workshop. IMO if it was hands on it would be an all day affair & might not get the attention it would otherwise because pards arent willing to commit that kinda time.

Okay, folks, we're gettin' down to the nut cuttin'.

I need some names of people that would like to make something, and what that something is.

Or would you prefer just a demonstration?

Need input!

Griz',
while I would love to make a slim jim holster, I don't see how it could be done with any kind of progress without taking a whole day.
As I am a vendor too, I'm going to have to give my vote for a quickie demonstration as a short seminar.
Wish 'twere otherwise.
