Cimarron Model P hammer removal???

Well,
I managed to lock up the hammer on one of my new Model P's. I was wiping the interior space where the hammer face rests when it's in the fired position with a small piece of gun cloth when the hammer fell accidently. The cloth is now wedge tightly between the frame and hammer, locking the hammer so as to be immoveable

. I suspect I need to remove the hammer to free this mess, but I've never done so on this type of SA revolver. Will removing the hammer screw allow the hammer to be lifted up and out of the frame, or must something else be done beforehand?
