How Old Is It?

I recently picked up a gorgeous Smith & Wesson New Model #3 and I'd like to determine the manufacture date. I've got Colt books and Winchester books, heck I've even got Merwin Hulbert books, but this is my first large frame S&W. The serial number is 212xx. Can one of you pards help me out?
