I am getting ready to try my hand at making me a Single Drop Holster and Belt.

I have the pattern but am wondering what weight of leather I should use.

Would appreciate any advice.

I generally use 8-10 oz for mine. Unlined.

Irish Dave:

Thank you, that is what I was considering but was not sure.

Thanks for the advice.

I use 8/9 oz and line it with pigskin on all my holsters. Been doing it for years and is what works for me.

I use 8-10 oz..  Be sure to make your pattern a little bigger all the way around if you plan to line the holster (the thicker the lining, the more you add).

Guys - I'm a newbie leather-worker. It's 8-9 oz. leather for holsters. But do you use a thicker leather for belts?

That same weight works well for belts.  I've also used a little thicker leather when Tandy is running a special on stirrup strips (these are sometimes a little heavier leather).  If you don't want to buy a whole hide, the stirrup strips work well for a gun belt.
