Going to buy a pair and going back and forth between the 1860 Army and the 1858 Rem.
Are the 1860 Armys from Traditions as good as the Peita and the Uberti?
Also will they [60's] except either of the conversion cylinders?

Years ago I owned both the '60 and the '58 but other then loading I've forgoten the goods and bads of either, so any info would be helpful in deciding which way to go, '60 or '58  :-\.

Thanks

Traditions imports Pietta..so the gun you get will be Pietta

I think you might do (price wise) with Cabela's also Pietta...
current price for the 1860 Army is $229.99
& the 58 is $219.99...

Compair that to the Traditions price ..No dog in the fight, just aheads up  :)

Thanks Major2.
That is what I need to now about the Traditions 1860's.
And that is the prices I got except Cabelas has the 58's on sale for $189 at this time.
Other then the feel what are the pros and cons of these two guns.

Personal prefrence is Uberti forged frame models & Dovetail front sight (58 Remy's)

I like the fact Uberti keeps a clean look....
Pietta has BLACK POWDER ONLY and they are proud of the Filli Pietta Name too
... I Have bought many over the years from Movie Props and the Uberti is far easier to use on camera.

I have enjoy good quaity and good service for my Uberti's ( I also has a good repor with Susan Webb @ Gardina)

Pietta are far cry better these days than the 70's and 80's and their whole line is good
and frankly their Great Western II is top drawer...

aside from my Clean preference & the Dovetail sight...Really it is a toss up and you mention the feel (Grips)
I also prefur the smalle Uberti grips...

In the case of the 1860's Pietta's CHC may be more Vivid to some....again boils down to your own tastes

I bought a Traditions 1851 Navy Colt (manufactured by Pietta) from Sportsman's Warehouse for $134.99 around three years ago. I'm not an authority by any means but it looks to be of decent quality. Attached is a picture after I did a little refinishing on it.       http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk81/jvsaffran/misc/1851.jpg

You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

I have been considering the faux ivory stocked ones from traditions on auction arms. Funds are limited right now and I doubt I would like them better than my ubertis.
