I just got a new product from Happy Trails, thanks Hap,at The Smith Shop. Replacement firing pins for R&D cylinders. I had shot my R&D cylinders not more than five times, never dry firing them. The pins were so battered that one of the guns started missfiring, twice around the wheel. I called the vendor and he gave me contact numbers for R&D I called three numbers ,left messages, with no responce. So I took matters in to my own hands, gave Happy Trails a call, talked over him making me up some f. p. need five per cylinder. I knew of his work for Wild Bill Blackerby and his shooters,Hap said he would crank some properly heat treated pins out for me. He did in a short time, sent them out,man now thats what should have been in the cyl s from the get go.If any other R&D conversion shooter are in need of replacement f. p. s give Hap a call he is stocking them, for sale. Im sure Im not the only one in need of them, they are listed as Firing Pins for R&D Conversions,Hardened and Tempered Tool Steel.  http://www.thesmithshop.com/       Hap is the MAN         Adios  Sgt. Let us know how they work out in the long run.
May lead to battering of the hammer face in guns that haven't had their mainspring greatly reduced.

Slim   One thing out of the many things Hap knows is proper heat treating of parts, Ole Wild Bills got a couple of years on his.The main springs have been replaced with Wolff s that have been lightened even more, the originals have been placed along with the hand and spring assy. with the C&B cylinders. I really do not plan on using them as C&B s ,just got real tired of waiting on the type II s Ive had on order over a year,I really perfer 51 Navys anyway. I will keep everone informed with longevity and performance, long term.      Adios  Sgt. Jake

Just a end of season report, used the conversions  for a regional , Three States champ.and eleven matchs. Not one single problem, every time I pulled the trigger the gun discharged, just like they are supposed to do. Slim the hammers and faces look just as they did before,no peaning to hammer face. Now to thank Happy Trails, which I have done personaly,Hap is The MAN.    YEE HAW    Sgt. Jake

I had Hap work over my 51 R&D conversions (gated) after a tip from Mr. Blackerby...Hap is the man.

He replaced the firing pins, welded up the opening in the hammer face which was chewing up the old pins and increased the frame clearence slightly around the pin as the pin sat a little low after my "self installing " the gated conversion.

I have used them several times and have had no problems.

Hap has done work on 4 of my weapons and I am extremely satisfied with everything he has done...He is also very easy to talk to..
