Greetings all.

Does anyone have any experience with subject musketoon?  Comments good, bad, or ugly would be most appreciated.
Hope 2009 is good for all.

Not with the musketoon, but I have a Euroarms 1853 Enfield (commonly known the 2-band) and have no complaints.

Three things I'd check:

Set the hammer to half-cock and suspend the piece from the trigger - if it holds, it's good.

At half-cock, is there enough room to get a cap onto the cone?

You want the hammer to come down squarely and centered on the nipple.

Everything else is a piece of cake if those three things are good.

Hi Two  Dot, having just sold my 2-Band Enfield, I am contemplating replacing it with a Musketoon because one of my friends has one, and at shorter ranges it is much more accurate.
Having said that, I believe that the rifling on the musketoon is of the progressive sort ( tightens towards the muzzle) because of the shorter length barrel.
I think you will find that the real secret to accuracy is more to do with the type of Minie bullet you use (Deep cavity-thin skirt) to pick up the rifling.
I found the 2-band a little heavy to shoot off-hand as I got older, so I think I'll give the Musketoon a whirl!

Good luck if you buy it, UKshooter
Trouble is...when I'm paid to do a job, I always carry it through. (Angel Eyes, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly)

The Musketoon was a good rifle.  A lot of NSSA Artillery types used to use them when I was in back in 1982.
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.
