I haven't had any misfires but I noticed that the factory firing pin on one of my open tops is bent. I have a couple of spares, so I will replace them both with the spares (until I can get some hardened ones from the Smith Shop).

I don't want to damage the hammer, is this something that I can do myself by just tapping out the hammer pin?

Thanks,

The pins are hammered in and then the ends are peened.  Look at both sides and drive out the end with the smallest amount of peening.  When you buy the Smith Shop firing pins, make sure you get some new retension pins.  Once they have been peened and driven out, sometimes they aren't reusable.

Thank you both. I'll get the retention pins before I do this.
