Couple of questions for you experienced folks
I know that it has been posted somewhere, but for the life of me I can't find it.  I'd like to know which model of the Marbles' tang will fit the existing holes on a Chaparral 1876-and posibly a screw set?  Is it the same as the Uberti?

I bought a box of Ten-X (45-60) and shot a few rounds (very few @3.50 a pop) with those stock sites--I reaaly just wanted to see if the thing worked.  Fired fine--hit 8.5 x 11 paper target @ 100yds.  Got home cut down a 45-70 Govt case mounted a bullet to see if it would feed--fed and chambered -- a bit more force required to pull up the lever but not excessive.  Does this indicate a headspace or toggle link problem as there is a few thousandths difference in the rims?  BTW the primer hits on the Ten-X 45-60 rounds were not dead center.

Thanks

Willy

Don't know about the Marbles sights, but there is a difference in rim thickness from the 45/70 to the 45/60, the latter being between .057" & .059" IIRC. 45/70 is closer to .064" I think...

Marbles makes a sight and mounting screws just for the 76, that front screw is 10/32, make sure you get the mounting screw set for that sight, they have the right one. I have two of these Chappys now, with Marbles on both. I actually use the sight for the 73 on mine, because it puts the peep a little farther up the tang so I can get my hand around the grip and not have the sight base wear a hole in my thumb!! Get their high sight staff, 1.35" for the proper sight clearance. Those folks at Marbles have incredable service, and are great to deal with. The '73 comes with the low staff installed, I sent the sight in to them and they swapped it out for the high one no charge. Both my guns needed three thickness' of pop can shims on the right side of the mounting base to get the sight to parallel vertically, the holes must be drilled in the tang a bit offset. You will love the windage adjustment- one of the reasons I went with the Marble sight.

Sent you a PM on the brass.

Sounds like the firing pin hole wasn't drilled on the centerline of the bolt.  As long as the primer strikes are not way off center, it will normally fire each and evry time.

Good luck.  I had to have my first rifle replaced because the QC wasn't up to snuff.  Charter Arms was real good about it.  Had me send my gun to them and they replaced it at no extra charge.

The rifle I have now is a real keeper.  I just wished that they had a Carbine model like the NWMP only in .45-60.

Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

After sending an e-mail to Chaparral , I found that the Chaparral 1876 uses the same screw threads as the origional Win.76.
I ordered both sight and screw set from Midway to fit the origional Win.76. They are a perfect fit. ;D

Hey Grapeshot- just ask and you will recieve!! Theres a company in Texas that sells that carbine youre looking for on both 45-75 and 45-60 called CDNN. They have a website, and if you Google it will direct you there. They are on pg. 34, along with a bunch of other '76's by Chaparral for $699-$799. Best prices Ive found for new in the box Chappies, by the way.
