I love that scar, Xpen. A little light to medium dye and some antique to accent the flaws and that should be an outstanding piece. By all means post it in the "Show Us Yer Stuff" thread. You could even punch the holes and leave the toe plug out as though someone removed it at some time. I'm looking forward to seeing this one finished. :D 8)

Ditto what Will said XPen, that looks great! It really adds character. I guess I need to try to take a picture of what I'm talking about, now that I've figured out how to add pictures. I've actually been able to get quite a lot out of that piece for belts, with plenty left for practice.

Thanks for sharing your holster, it's greatly appreciated! JD

Outrider,
If I read WC correctly....we don't wanna lose or hide our wrinkles and/or scars......they make us characters. ;D

Outrider. Here's what you do.

Ya find yerself a really fast pony,
Not a Ford, nor one equipped wit a Sony!

But a real live hoss, whose got some sand
Shoot, nowadays they fetch less than a grand.

Ya climb on board and grab the apple fer luck
And move that hoss out, like you done missed yer chuck!

With the wind a'wailing and a' whippin' yer chin,
One of two things' bound ta happen, old friend.

You'll either smooth every wrinkle on out straight.
Or all your skin will slip, and slide clean off your pate.

Either way fella, once it's all through,
You'll have yerself a nice little do.

So wad it all up, under a big old hat,
And enjoy yer smooth skin, just like that!

Hehehe. I do a wee bit of poetry on the side pard, and I couldn't help it!  ::)
Just because you CAN ride the hide off a horse, doesn't mean you should.

Outrider, you could always try to gain some weight. Less wrinkles in fat faces. Gee, wonder how I know that? :P

Antique finish. No, wait, that makes them show more. Heck, you're stuck being a character like the rest of us. 'ceptin' some of the young'uns, maybe.

Here's a pictures of what I've been talking about. It's difficult to get a decent picture, but you sure can feel these things. They run the full length of the hide. They aren't straight either, they are wavey.

Yep fat wrinkles - Is it an import hide? Much/most of the imported leather today comes from South America or Mexico where there are a lot of Brahma crosses and they tend to have those wrinkles much more than other breeds, but even in the "standard" breeds older critters will get them.........

Me I just work with them - use them for pieces that it will add character to ;D

It's something I bought from Tandy, they had it on sale for four something a foot. It was not their highest quality. I managed to get six belt blanks out of it before running into the wrinkles. I need a lot more practice, so I will use the wrinkled parts for that.

Thanks, Chuck.
