A muzzle loader sight that I visit, used to do a postal contest. You would shoot a target and mail it to the host and they would measure it and record it, then they would post the winner and all the scores. Would you guys be interested in doin this? if so I would do the first one (or all of them) i think it would be fun and a way for everybody to shoot the 76 this winter. What you guys say? how about it? ;D

That sounds like a fun thing to do however, as far as my ownself is concerned, right now I am butt deep in snow here in NW Montana and it would be hard to do as I would have to plow a bunch of snow out to where my target stands are at.  Besides that,  Goose season still has a couple of weeks to run its course.  Just what do you have in mind by the way?  Years ago (35 to be perzak) when I was on the Sheriff's dept in the Bitterroot, we had a postal match going but it was indoors.  We had a lot of fun.  :)

Well  I thought the first one would be just a simple 100 yrd 5 shot group. No fouling shot. five consecutive shots. staring Jan 1st. all targets have to be to me by Jan 31st.  I am in Northern WI and we have some snow also. another one we did was a 3 shot 50 yrd at a recipe card with an x closest one to the center of the x was the winner. What other ideas are out there ?

I'm still waiting on my loading supplies from BACO, so I may not be able to participate this time.  But how about a scaled down Bison silhouette at 50 or 100 yards?  Something like this:

Here are some freeby Bison cliparts that someone with graphics talent could make into interesting targets:

Count me in. It was a balmy 68 here in Pawnee OK, yesterday. It's just the 30 mph crosswinds that bother me. But as we used to say when I lived in Norcal " would you like some cheese with your whine?"

Keep me informed about this.  As it stands now, there is not much that i can do about MA Nature and her snow storm sp when the weather becomes more conducive to having fun, I will have it a go.  I got some tasty loads to try in my 45-75 all ready to go.   :D

Well there are over 114 '76 owners that have been to this site and joined the roster, and there have been 152 views to this post, only 3 of us are interested in a shooting contest, so it looks like there is reallly no interest in a contest. have a nice winter.

If you reconsider it still sounds like fun to me. But I'll ride 12 miles in a snow storm to get to a winter rendervous. You mentioned
visiting a muzzleloader site. You ever try buckskinning? You sound like you might enjoy it We hold events all year long. Going to one weekend after next and expect it to be COLD. Fighting the elements is part of the challenge and sharing a fire and stories
with like-minded individuals is pretty hard to beat.

You can sign me up--but one question--how do you keep the powder burns off of the paper ;)

On a seroius note I'm willin' to embarass myself--I have access right now (no snow yet) to 50, 100 & 200 yds.  Pass on the rules and I'll give it a try--still have 10 rnds of the origninal 20 Ten-X cartridges I bought or will the be BP loads (if so pass on a good recipe).
