Howdy Pards, :)

I realize that there are a lot of you all that have a lot more self control than I do! Seems like when I go into a Gun store, or a place like Tandy, a magic spell comes over me :o In a gun store, you might look and touch, but unless you went in to buy a certain thing, you might pick up 1 or 2 items! But a Leathercraft store has magical powers over you, you go in to pickup a few sale items, and then you start seeing the sale tags and the next thing you know, you have a ton of stuff! ::) ::)
I am a concho nut!! ??? I see a concho in the cataloug that I like, and it sell's for $2.99, I don't buy $2.99 concho's, but if they got them babies marked down to 49 cents, look out! :o
Okay back to reality, i bought some nice stuff, and I was suprised that there was so much on sale that wasn't listed in any of the flyers! does every store have the same sales, or does every store have a few things that they aren't moving and put on sale? One thing about it, i had a good time, bought some bargins, and it will only hurt once, and that is when the credit card bill comes and I have to pay for it!
One more thing I wanted to mention, was they made a BIG PRICE INCREASE for 2009 on a lot of stuff I think, I bought a couple items, thinking they were $6.99 each, because I had looked at them and marked them down out of my old cataloug, when I was sitting in the parking lot, looking over my ticket, they had went to $9.99 so they got some of there concho money back!! :o

I did a walk through yesterday (Friday), the first day of their big sale. With so much snow in our area, the most since 1950, Tandy, along with everyone else is realy down in the sales department. They tag everything on sale, so it's easy to walk through and see what's available.

I managed to spend about 80 bucks, but didn't get any leather. Frankly there wasn't much to look at on sale. The stuff looked pretty rough to me, and I don't have much experience with leather.

I am glad I have a place close enough to get to on a regular basis.

 JD,
I will agree that some of the tools are rough, and you better not just grab it and go, you better try it out! But JD, I think you are trying pull the wool over on  (I don't have much experience with leather) the work you have showed on her isn't of a first timer :).
and I hope some day, i can turn out the quality that you do! I will be honest, the USA Tandy Stamps are twice the quality of there imports, but most of us can't afford those custom stamps. But someone bought one of the stamp companies that went out of buiness and they have been selling them on ebay, I think the name Baron stamps, you talk about bad!
Better go.

You got out cheap. I bought a couple skirting extras, some strap, a double shoulder (pretty nice and smooth, no range marks, heck, very little fat roll, and no skeeter bites - must've put some sunblock and bug spray on them dogies!), some tools I needed and some hardware.

It totalled out at $151. Now all i gotta do is make something with it. Got some folks wanting some fancy slobber straps with his ranch's brand on them.

I hope he doesn't want it actually branded on there. lol. I can barely work a stamp, much less an iron. I'd burn the workshop down!

Well Ace, I hope I didn't leave the impression that the Bible cover was my work, because it certainly is not. A nice lady by the name of Jay Weedman did that for me. Her work inspired me to give this craft a try. Jay's been at this 30 or more years, though she's real shy about showing off her work. I haven't told her I put a picture on line, but I'm going to tomorrow at church.

Frankly, it's one of the nicest gifts I've ever received, since it represents her labor, not just her money. And yes, I have told her, more than once! JD
