shotgun question

Hi! I have an old savage 311 12 ga double with 28 in bbl's, i wondered if i could use it to get started in cas, or if i would want to have it made in to a couch gun. Thanks Mike!

You can use it just as it is for right now and if you decide to later you can cut it down if you want...

If you shorten it you will loose the chokes.  I agree with WW, try it like it is and see what you think.

   I bought an Uplander w/26" bbls, at Dick's on sale. I chose the 26" because of my eyes and the longer sight plane. However, at my first match it immediately became a hinderance in moving and shooting through openings in props. I'm now waiting on a 20" Coach gun for shooting in and around props. I'll keep my Uplander for other situations.

You can get the barrels machined for screw in chokes after you cut the barrels down if need be.

In MY HUMBLE opinion, DON'T CUT THE BARRELS

I find no advantage, in fact I see the advantage in longer barrels.  They hold better.

If you cut them, you also cut the value, and make it unuseable for hunting, etc.

That sounds like an excellent shotgun to use in CAS to me.  Lot's of guys don't have shotguns that nice and they do just fine!
