I know this tain't really western, but thought ya'll would enjoy the look see anyway.......on the other hand wasn't there a spaghetti western with IIRC Charles Bronson as a gunfighter or some such and Toshiro Mifune as a samurai????
Those who know my work, know I generally work in a western American Frontier style, either recreations of original pieces or more often than not these days work inspired by those originals - in this case I made as Monty Python once said - "something completely different".....

In this case it's sheath for a beautiful east meets west knife by ABS mastersmith Bill Burke......

The lower section carving was inspired by the carving on an original Japanese sword - the upper section is a rayskin overlay wrapped with black silk cord ala a Katana. The belt loop has a rayskin inlay.......pictures aren't the best - there's a lot of texture and color nuances that just didn't captured i.e the lower leather is an oxblood wash over a black ground and the rayskin surrounding the natural white diamond is burgundy......

Anyone note the "hidden surprise".......

FWIW - this was one of the most challenging and though it may not look it, complicated pieces I've ever built - lost a few hairs and quite a few more turned grey........ ;)  ;D  ;)

Excellent!! It's been posted how hard it is to work with the Ray skin. Was that the big challenge?

Outstanding, Chuck. That wrapped upper with the hidden stitches really works nicely. The wrapping adds an additional focal point right on top of another. The hidden stitches really show off the carving. Were they done like an English saddle or do they angle out the side? I guess you could have sewn it first then glued an overlay with the tooling over the face. I think that's how I would have done it. It's a whole different look. I like it.

Well Chuck, this is what I would call "Scary Good" I've been a guitar player for over 45 years. I've made a living at it in years past, and it's a vital part of what I do now to support my family. Not too long ago I sat down with a guy selling an amp, and listened to him play. He was so over the top good, better than anyone I had ever heard, I called him "Scary Good" 'cause I knew I could never come close to that. That describes your work, in the most positive way I can say it.

I watched your DVD again last night, completely through the first disc, and through the second until you finished the Spanish Loop holster. It's been an inspiration to say the least.

I'm glad Will asked about the stitching, because that one had me baffled, having never heard of hidden stitches.

Thanks for continuing to post pictures, they are appreciated.
