Small caliber SAAs does anyone have or have any experience with them?--w/Photos!

Recently my USFA "Longhunter Special" SAA in .32-20 arrived.

It showed up with beautiful fit and finish, including a CCH Hammer, which I wasn't expecting.

I initially loaded up a box of cartridges using 95g Desperado FP bullets on top of 3.5g of Unique.

Yesterday I got to take it out briefly for a test fire.

Shooting it at a measured 25' using a 2 hand hold its windage shot PERFECTLY centered, however using this load it shot ~3-1/2" low.  I was pleased that the initial "hand held" group size was 2".

The next 4 cylinders full opened up to ~3-1/2" (for both myself and another shooter, each of us shooting 2 more cylinders full).  This may have been due to the fact that we were using the upper tack in the target as the aiming point rather than the previous "center target" aiming point in dimishing light.

Using this high aiming point, the hits were grouped around in the center of the target, but slightly larger, as mentioned.

Recoil and report was just slightly greater than shooting my .22 cal Ruger Single-Six, very pleasant to shoot and almost "Pipsqueak".

Somewhere around the area I have some 115g .32 cal Desperado bullets, and I'll have to load some of them up and see where the sights print.  If they continue to shoot low, some front sight filing may be required.

The other day the .22RF SAA Showed up.

It had also been worked over by Longhunter, receiving several of the mods to make it into one of his "Specials".

I took it out, along with the .32-20 and was pleasantly surprised when I was able to shoot the first cylinderful into a 1-1/2" cluster at 30' offhand.  The group patterned right at the Point of Aim.

At the same time I tried some loads loaded with 115g Desperado Bullets RNFP.  Once again they printed ~3-1/2" low so some filing's going to be required on the Front Sight in order to regulate it onto target.
