Thanks for the link, Knucklehead. I took a look and there are a lot of people doing interesting stuff with leather. I even saw our very own WC is represented there. I'll go back when I have time to look it all over.

Yep...I pass through that neighborhood on a daily basis. Very cool site, and you'll find work from beginners to world class pros.

 :)Howdy Pards,
Knucklehead, that is a pretty cool site! And seems to have a lot of knowledge! i did register, becuse I feel that there will be some helpfull post on there! I was realy impressed buy the carving section! I only wished we had a place close to me like a Tady store, that gave lessons! But since that isn't going to happen, I will have to reliey on my family here!
i have a deep feeling that learning to carve will be a lot of my winter work! It is something that I have a pssion for, but I am well know, to but the cart in front of the horse! I still need 100 or 2 hpurs of stamping before I feel i am even half way decent at that! And so I don't know when to make the leap to start carving. But like I said, when winter comes, I won't be out of the house much, so I will have to have something to do, to keep from loosing my mind!

You all have a good weekend that is coming up!

Ace, I would suggest going online to Tandy and order the book: The Leather Craft Handbook by Tony and Kay Laier, item # 6009-00
cots about $2.50....only 30 pages and shows you the very basic steps of carving and other leather work.

13221 NE Whitaker Way
Portland, OR 97230
(503) 255-8818

this is their address Ace.
Donna is the manager there and she is great.

I dont know where you will be at when you head over in my neck of the woods, but will give it a shot from the portland international airport.

From: Portland International Airport

1. Head southwest on NE Airport Way About 8 mins go 3.6 mi

2. Slight right at NE 122nd Blvd go 0.2 mi

3. Turn left at NE Whitaker Way about .6 miles Destination will be on the left About 2 mins

if the traffic is light then this route should only take about 10 mins tops.

if you are going to be on I-205 freeway then from either north or south traveling you will need to get to I-84 east.
once on I-84 east you will need to get on the 122 exit, which is the very first exit on I-84(first exit from where you got onto I-84).
head north on 122. you will continue north till you see whitaker way on your right. whitaker way is 2 streets after the overpass that you will drive under. k mart store is on right side right before the over pass.

turn right onto whitaker way and follow it till you see the store on left side. its right after the rail road tracks you will cross over(rail road tracks are on a curve to the left.) the store will be right after the road goes straight.

hope i have explained it easy. i sometimes have trouble explaining how to go somewhere.

if all else fails give donna a call she will be more than happy to direct you to the store.
Durban the previous manager still works there as well. he turned store over to donna due to health reasons.
both of them are great people
the store is closed on sunday.

I'm a member there too. I never post just like to read and look over there. Lots of good information. Chuck Burrows sicked me onto that site a while back. But...I agree with Ace, there ain't no place like this one right here.
