Switching Barrels

I like the look of the black powder gun (loading lever) and was wondering if any of you gents know if I can get an 1860 cap and ball and but the barrel onto my conversion?  I've already looked into ordering "the man with no name" gun and there is an 8 to 9 month waiting list.  Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

You did not specify which 1860 conversion and which caliber you have but...assuming it is a factory made Uberti RM or R2 their groove dia (factory specs) is .429 in .44 Colt, and .450 in .45 Colt. The corresponding dia of the .44 percussion bore can be between .452 and .458. For safety reasons frame, cylinder and barrel of the conversions are beefed up compared to the C&B model, i. e. you might be able to get the C&B barrel on the arbor of the conversion, but it would not align with the conversion chambers, the 2 frame pins will be off, too.
If your conversion was made from an 1860 C&B pistol with a lined barrel for .44 heel type bullets you might be able to fit a C&B barrel of the same manufacturer to it.

Just but an 1860 BP pistol and put a Kirst Conversion in it!

OH....... sorry It's a Uberti conversion in 38 spl. I had hoped to get a .36 cal cap & ball and see if I could put the C&B barrel on the conversion. From the the answer of Long Johns Wolf, It does not appear that I can safely accomplish this.

I am not very familiar with the Kirst Conversion other than seeing a picture of one. Would this device require any gunsmithing to attach it to the gun? (I have no gunsmithing abilities) If so have you any personal experience in this matter that you could share?

I apologize for my ignorance on this subject. I hope you Gents can see what I'm hoping to accomplish. Basically I want to build my own "Man with no name" gun.  Hopefully it won't cost anymore to do this than it would to buy the actual gun from Cimarron.

In any case, I am grateful for your insightful comments and suggestions.

If you already have an Uberti .38 conversion, likely a "Richard-Mason", you already have what Kirst can do.  This topic has been around at least once before.  Changing the dimensions to prevent switching was probably deliberate. 

Just get a Cap'nBall revolver.  I have a pair of R-Ms and an 1851 square back.  I'd love to have an 1861.
