This one was built with a pair of holsters for a twist draw - guns are cap and ball. It's become one of my most poular styles and one of the most fun to build - the carving is based on an original and the roller buckle is an original circa 1880 or so....The 7" Bowie is a typical "local" made style of the period - mule deer antler grip with a buffalo rawhide wrap, brass guard, and poured pewter buttcap..
Hope ya'll enjoy the look see  - oh yea the color is a mix of coffee, walnut and vinegaroon, then all aged up...... ;)

I am impressed!

Is that a mixed pair?  It looks like a square-back '51 and an 1860.

Well, another great work, Chuck. I like the way you marry different looks together to come up with your own very unique style. Outstanding. Thanks for the pics.

Thankee for the kinds words and glad ya'll enjoyed the look see....

Sir Charles - yep a mixed pair for the image, but the customer has a pair of Armys - I'm the one who has one of each..

dalton - those plastic keyboard covers have save me a more than a few bucks!  ;D  ;)  ;D

Marshall Will and for the new folks - achieving a unique style has always been on my "agenda" so to speak, but I can say it took more than a few years for me

to get there........I'm betting that the folks that have been at this for awhile and folks like cowboywc that also teach, will say the best advice is to learn and get at

the basics first - the style will come...for what it's worth......

Howdy Chuck,

Outstanding! Another work of art from your workshop. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.

I hope you don't mind.

GB - go for it - unlike some crafters/businees folks I don't mind at all - although it's ALWAYS nice to have folks give a nod to their source of inspiration - I always have and still do when appropriate. The way I learned much of my crafting was by almost slavishly copying those who came before - over time my skills increased and I was able to develop my own "style" so to speak.......I look forward to your "take" on the style.....If there is any advice I can offer ask away....when/if my work inspires others I just feel all the better for posting pics............
The only time I don't copy and sell is when it is a patented or copyrighted item - on the other hand if it's just for me and not produced for sale.... ;)
To use a couple of other of my favorite sayings  - there is nothing new under the sun (little if any, when it comes to things like holsters, knives, etc. - it's almost all variations on a theme anyway) and no man is an island
