Did any of these have .454 barrel?  This is an Octagon barreled rifle not carbine.  Looks to be almost new.  Good barrel.  Can't hit the barn with .452  45 Colt.   Any ideas.  Ace

They did make a .454Casull, have you slugged the barrel?

??? ??? ::) :o I think Qball has the answer here, your Rifle is probably a 454 Casull, I know Rossi was making them. Most all the 45 long colt Rossi 1892's are shooters, never heard of one not being a good shooter, you need to check this out, look on the barrel, what is it marked ( what Cal. ) if its marked 45 long Colt, it could still have the wrong barrel, slug the barrel and you will know for sure. :-\ ::) ??? if the bore is .454, your .452 bullet isn't getting into the rifling, shooting an under sized bullet in any gun will produce lousy accuracy, it will be all over the place.

.454 Casull uses a .452 bullet I believe and they only made a carbine.  But the old .45 Colts were actually .454  Go figure.   I stuck a bullet in the end of the barrel and it went in sliiightly farther than my other rifle.   I located a source for .454 bullets and will try them and report back.  Ace

.454 made a world of difference.   Still not where I want.  I need a taller front sight and the trigger is rough an stiff.  But I think I got the root of the problem.  Is there any size between .454 and .45-70 ?   Ace

I'm happy to hear you are doing better with your rifle, at what range are shooting??, if your slider underneath your buckhorn rear site is at the lowest setting, and your using a 6 oclock hold on your target, and your still hitting high, you might want to drop the tip of your front site down in the gutter of the notch in your buckhorn, this can bring POI more in line, but if you are already doing this , and your still hitting high, all you can do is get a taller front site blade.
A good cleaning and degreasing of your action, and then a reoiling with GOOD gun oil will sometimes cure the problem, I know it has for me, and now I do a through cleaning of any new rifle/shotgun/handgun, it makes a world of difference, Ive been using Gun Butter/oil that is sold here in Cas City, give Marshal Holliway a call and tell him I told you about Gun Butter, he uses it too, thats if your interested. I don't endorse many things , but this stuff is great.... ;) :D

Let us know how you do with your rifle pard  ??? ;) 8)

The factory Remington .45 Colt bullets are soft swaged lead and .455.  You can get them from Buffalo Arms among other places.
