I was watching 3:10 to Yuma this weekend and finished loading 42 rounds of 56-50 CF Spencer ammo.

Took a bit of time, but, well worth it.

I took 42 bullets that were all within 1.0gr or less of one another, 45gr of GOEX Express FFFg, Starline cases with a flash hole reamed to 3/32", and primed with Winchester LRM primers. I also used a 50cal overshot card from Circle Fly Wads.

Everything went together perfectly. Wiped every round with a light amount B-C "Sheath" and packed it in an MTM case.

(I'll put em into period cartridge box some other time...)

I swung past Track Of the Wolf to check their brass prices... OUCH!!!

I feel REALLY sorry for folks getting into oddball calibers these days. $1.25/round is not pretty. I think I have like 200 I bought 2 years ago for 80cents each, or there abouts.

You want to see scary,.......Go over to DIXIE GUN WORKS and look at the Gallager, 50 Sharps 3 1/4", and Smith cartridges,....

Just bought 250 rounds of 56-50, $236.85 shipped,.......or roughly $0.95 each now from Starline.....

Thank our government letting companies sell every bit of scrap to China at inflated prices......
Regards,
Sgt Chapman

I would assume there's some compression going on there, especially with a wad, correct? Out of curiousity, why FFFg instead of FFg and why a reamed flash hole? Just curious. Also, did you chrono any or bench any loads? I'm always looking to improve my trusted BP loads.  ;)
