On a SAA the ejector rod housing has a part that is nearest the barrel that has a piece of metal that runs length wise along the barrel (knid of inside the housing) except that when it comes close to the end of the rod housing it tuns upward leaving an area exposed.  How come this metal ridge doesn't extend the length of the rod housing.

Hope I described that okay.

Thanks,

Will

'If' I'm interpreting this correctly - push the head of the ejector rod to the rear, and watch as the ejector rod head pivots downward to begin its travel.

The open area gives it room to pivot upward as a sort of 'lock' - thus preventing it from inadvertently protruding into the mouth of the chamber and effectively causing it to jam.

Hope this helps.
