Uberti '58 Remmie Broken Already...............Damn........

Geez.........I was always hesitant to buy Uberti handguns, but man.........

Anyway, I just got my pair of Remmie repros the other day, and used them once.  Yesterday.  250 shot through the both of them combined.  Way fun.

Decided to take them apart and give a real good cleaning today.  I noticed in one of them, the cylinder spins too freely for my liking, and when I disassembled it, I noticed the *hand spring* is broken, seems like too much force was used to seat the thing during manufacture.

But since I already milled notches into the cylinders in each so that you can spot check to see if the gun is loaded, I probably voided out the warranty.

So my question is, does anybody know where I can get a stronger *hand & hand spring*?  Or should I just call Taylor's and see if I can get a replacement part?

Thanks.
God forgives, I don't........

Bad luck.. I used VTI Gun Parts for several parts orders over the years . Great service and a good supply of Uberti parts.

My 51 Navies have served me well so far but I guess like anything ya buy these days  ya can get a bad one.

Good luck

Taylors and VTI sell the same parts.....

Does this mean they're from the same manufacture?

Cause I'd like to get something a little stronger.

Taylors carries Uberti parts.... Maria Uberti owns/owned VTI/Uberti USA... so I'd say YEP!

You can try here...

Remingtons have notoriously bad hand springs.  A lot of people use a piece of steel from an American bobby pin.  Much stronger than the Italian spring.  If you are goingt o continue to use the original style hand and spring, you should keep a couple of spares on hand.

Been doing some research already, left a message for Flint, and noticed some people get them tapped for the Ruger style plunger system, or, like you mention, keep a fistful of spars on hand, but I'd rather not change my irons cosmetically other than engraving/antiquing at this time.

Like Pettifogger said , REMINGTONS have notoriously bad hand springs . Has very little to do with Uberti on that one , they are to spec but they are a week design and can break , just like anything else mechanical , that has a flaw in it . Yours was probably tempered to crisp is all or got hung up and couldn't take it .
The ones I think I saw Flint make were substantially stronger by design .
I have gotten bad ones from Peitta too , but once again its the design not the maker . They break , it's that simple really .

From what I've been reading, and researching, it looks like a Ruger style spring system is the way to go.............. :-\

Yeh , your probably right Cemetery .
As much as I love Rugers too , putting one in a Remington just seams wrong ,  LOL , ha ha ha  !!!  ;D
But hey , what ya goona do , you know ?  ??? Or you could beef up the Remingtons design , you do have options here .

Good luck whatever you decide to do ,

Sincerely , Alabama

I`d give Taylors a call first and tell them the hand spring broke , and your willing to make the repair yourself if they would send ya a new one ...chances are they`ll just send a new hand and spring at no cost ...I`ve done that once or twice on new guns myself ...Chances are you just got a bad one ..Only time I`ve ever broke a hand spring on a Remmie is when I tried bending one it broke off ..my falt ..other than that ...I shoot the snot out of them ..and never have a problem ...9 Remmies and no hand spring problems is a pretty good record . ;D
