Here are some tinkering projects I've done over the years.

This one I call the Colt '51-60. It's an 1860 Army with a '51 Navy grip frame and SAA grips

This one I call the Colt Thunderball. It's an 1860 Army with a five inch barrel and birdshead grips

This photo shows the difference between the standard 1860 grip and the birdshead grip

This is the gun I call the Ultimate Remington. I made this one long before you could buy them off the shelf.  ;D

As you can see it makes a much handier package than a standard Remington

Going to the other extreme, this is my Ruger Old Army Buntline

"I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughing. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it."

BDM,
I always enjoy your projects, a little out of the ordinary, I like that.  I also enjoy your articles when I happen to catch one.
He any good?
He's killed more people than smallpox!

John Boy, I haven't shot it at 100 yards, but I've shot it plenty at 50. It is extremely accurate.

If I could see better I think it would shoot into an inch at 50 yds, but even with a rest three inches is as good as I can do with it at 50. An inch at 25.

BDM,

Obviously you have been having more fun that a man should be allowed (with or without his clothes on)!!  ;)

Very nice work!

8)  Mike, I'd take the 3 inches at 50 and be very happy!

Also if you go back and can find Mike's articles they are some great reading as well.  Wish I had to time and skill to tinker like you do.

Mike, Where did you get the white grips on the "58"?

Because of your photos I cut my "58" down also, great balance!

A cute shot of the Thunderbolt

Beautifull pictures, i enjoy it very much,,

It's seems to me, the Thunderbolt is a nice gun to use, short barrel, with birdhead, good balance. 8)
