:)I wade this hacchet/Tommyhawk holder for Curley Cole. Curley since me a tool and ask me to make him a holder no problem, he sent me the shape of the head and the down part of the handle!
Know here is the lesson, unless you have the exact pattern or the oject it fits don't do it!
I got this all done, i was proud of myself untill i emailed him after I had it made ( because I was going to turn a piece of wood down to wet mould and finish the Holder! So I emailed him to get the proper size of the handle and the handle gets a lot bigger than the part of the drawing I hade got  :o :o
So Curley back to the drawing board, I will make a new one and ad a 1 1/2 inches on the back end, and make you a new one! Hope it looks like this one.
Thanks for looking, and sorry Curley!! :( :(

Nice work pard , this ax holder really looks nice, maybe you can find a tommy hawk that will fit it , it's too nice to shelf, and thats a pretty cool looking walnut knife guard, I think in the day, if they didn't have any other metal around this would have been a good way to put a guard on a knife, the deer antler in combination with the walnut guard look real period. Well done Pard ::) :o 8) ;D

Lookin' good, Ace. I like the way you made the cover to go down the handle some. The conchos do it justice, too. Nice work.

Now that is just flat SWEET.....I will be proud to wear it. And tell them my pard Ace made it...

it ain't easy to make something from scratch, with out havin the object to test fit. I think it looks fine, and then some.

Sometimes I go places that you can't carry your guns, so I will be wearin my Fair Weather Christian belt, with my big Bowie on one side and my axe on the other side. and then there will be times when I will be wearin my Remingtons double cross, and my axe and my Bowie. I will be well outfitted.

Way to go Ace.

nice work Ace, now just open the back edge seam and put a tapered welt in, no need to redo the whole lot, Don

Gun Butcher

What Don said Ace, if you had to you could put a welt on both side seams. Trust me it wouldn't be the first one or the last. And ,by the way, it looks great don't shelve it just because it's to short.

I agree Ace! That looks like a very nice piece! You are really coming along well.
Give a welt a try.
I have to do the same thing to a set of holsters tonite. I made a set of Remington Cheyennes and cant get the cylinder into the holster. Gonna try a welt (or 4) in it tonite and hope.

??? ??? ??? ;) :D ;D Ace you know the boys are right , put a welt in , in both sides if needed, should do the trick, I can't believe I didn't think of that , that's what's nice about having all you pards to jump in with your ideas.

The boys have good ideas. I didn't know you were going to extend the handle, which looks great. The design I sent ya was open at the bottom, so I too didn't think diameter would be that crucial.  I know I made several holsters that didn't fit and I had the gun there, so, there is a learning curve there. And you will get used to dealing with longdistance construction. My leather guy is in Kentucky. He has made me knife sheaths for 4 different size Bowies from an outline on paper. All my gear is from him and am proud to wear it. I will be proud to add your axe sheath to the belt.

Keep with it and I only wish I could still do the leather. That is why I spend so much lurking in this forum. I envy you guys, and take pleasure in your work. Be glad you guys can do it. I can't anymore. I actually am getting a little worried about my shooting in the not too distant future. Artiritis is insidious, and it steals some of the life from you..

anyways, you guys in this forum are outstanding and keep up the good (no excellent better word) work

:o  I think Ace is just using that "to short' thing as an excuse to make another one.  ::)

But seriously, I would be the same way. It,s just about impossible to say " that will be alright" when you know it isn't.

GB,
You are right, in our group here, we all take pride in our work!! And making mistakes for me is part of the learning process!
Curley is sending me new drawing and it will fit this time! I don't want to put out anything I am not proud of!
Everyone has limitation, and I have more than most!! But I will keep trying untill I am on top of my game, and then I will feel like I have done my best!
Thanks for all the Kind words!!

 :) Howdy Curley,
If the Humidity ever gets below 89% I might get sewn :o :o Dyed it Tues afternoon as of 5pm my time today it wasn't dry yet! With any luck(and I don't have any of that) should have it done at the end of the week, depending also on the back and legs!
I am at the end of the rope, the heavy amount of Moriphine that i take, doesn't even help with this wet weather >:( >:( >:(
Spend 80% of the time in bed!
Maybe I will get a pic takin tomorrow if the dye is dry
See Ya

Am there with ya on the pain. Just got back from the chiropractors and don't think it did much good.

Only reason I asked about the sheath, was in November Old Top Cole Harbour and I are goin to a Western Festival, and they probably are gonna participate in the color guard, and I will be taggin along as their scout. Thought that would look good on my belt...
thanks
