I finally got my dad to try blackpowder. He is about 1 1/2 hrs from me, and last time I went to visit, I took some of my old blackpowder loading equipement, ie. scoops, powder, etc. He has gotten 100 loaded up now, using up his old Pyrodex. The few he has shot, he thought were pretty cool. Hopefully I can get him up to full house black loads by next year.

Also, had a friend ask me tonite if I would load him some 44-40 black loads so he can try them at the Blackpowder Shootout in October. Another convert in the making!

Sir Dalton,

This is the way of the true enlightenment.  Bring the heathens to the way of the Darkside.

Stay on this trail and you will very soon become a Soot Lord.  Further down the same trail awaits the pure black satin sash of the Dark Lord of the Soot.

Peace and tranquility be yours for the spreading of the knowledge of the Darkside.

That's pretty awsome Dalton Masterson .

I semi-converted my Pappy too , but the modern cartridge guns still got him hooked . I think if your lazy this sport aint for ya .
My buddy in Yuma AZ , has been seeing all my revolvers in the last few years , and finally showed an interest in shooting an old revolver . Like he said himself , " I want to know what its like to shoot the guns of the Civil War and experience what they did  " ..... ;D
My E-mail back to him recently told him I was sending him one of my 1861's for free and I was paying shipping too , enjoy brother . Needless to say he's got the Colt bug now  ;D Pretty neet seeing people come over to the smoke and soot side ...All it takes useually is one shot , the first shot , the billowing smoke and fire , that's all she wrote  ;D

I got my wife to like it too!! She has shot quite a few matches using real black 45s.

Its funny, about 18 or 19 years ago, I begged mom and dad for a muzzleloader. I got it, shot deer with it and love it to this day. I cant remember dad shooting it once. I also got a 51 Navy and a 58 Rem around the same time. I shot the heck out of those, and still do. Same thing with those. Dad might have shot the Rem once or twice, but that was it.
Of course he also said he wasnt gonna parade around in a cowboy hat, funny clothes and big boots too.  ;D
I remind him of the clothes thing often.

Yep Alabama, I think this smokeless trend is going the way of the dodo. I usually try to give someone a chance to shoot my cap and balls at every match. I usually have a taker or two. DM

I was shooting 41 mag Blackhawks in "modern". I finished my run and had my back to the stage and shooter. White River Ike turned one of his Remingtons loose behind me. I turned around quickly enough to see him emerging from a cloud of smoke and as they say, the rest is history. Ain't been back to smokeless and don't intend to go.

I'm gettin' ready to do my first shoot.  Kind folks letting me borrow what I lack.  When I answered that my second revolver was my '60 C&B, the lender said, "Don't bother with that.  You can borrow one of mine."  I'll be shooting that new fad stuff until I acquire my rifle & SxS.  Then, a new kid rides into town.

Until then, I appreciate the kind offers of those helping me get started, although I feel somewhat compelled to keep my love for the dark side quiet...

I've got my excuses and I'm stickin' to 'em.
