Fellowship at the SW Regional nets new members

In addition to the 8 new members who signed up at the match, the quality of our NCOWS membership in attendance got us two more.  I just got off the phone with Randy May the caterer of our banquet.  It seems that he and Ervin Richards, the cook/owner of the chuckwagon that prepared our meals on site, want to join NCOWS. 

Randy said both he and Ervin are impressed with our members and the purpose of NCOWS.  Even though they are not shooters (yet), they wanted to be associated with NCOWS.  I explained to him that a chuckwagon crew would fit right in with our experiencing the Old West. 

Bet the cowhands never had as good tasting pear cobbler as we had on Day Three.  Mmmmmmmmmmmm...

Did they prepare and cook everything right there off the chuckwagon? I did not see any Dutch ovens or the like.

There is no finer meal than biscuits and gravy. Unless you throw a nice juicy slab of hamsteak, or any steak, down next to the B and G.

Saw the picture with the biscuits being dumped out of the oven, what else was cooked in dutch ovens on sight?  I must have missed the pictures showing the area where they cooked for such a large group and the firewood supply.

We had firewood stacked next to our club office.  Ervin & Gail really did a great job on every meal we had.  The biscuits and gravy were the best I've had...

It sounds like we did a purty good job on selling the Tenhorns and NCOWS to the non members in attendence.  Congrats to our members.

You all know that at the right time Texas Jack becomes Hungry Jack. I have to say that both the chuck wagon at the shoot and the one Saturday took care of him in a very tasteful and filling way. Very fine food and really GREAT people. The gentleman at the shoot was also interested in Hiram's Rangers. Really liked our badge. It was good to meet and visit with another Master Mason. As I stated before, you all really treated us well. THANK YOU for a wonderful time. Tj

RCJ-- "Cathead" biscuits are cooked in a circular pan or skillet or dutch oven instead of on a baking sheet.  This gives them the characteristic shape and size of a cat's head.  Wedge shaped, that is.  Bigger than your fist.  Yum.

The big chunks of sausage in the gravy was well cooked but not burnt, it gave the gravy a really fine taste. Like RCJ....I'm also a connoisseur of biscuits and gravy.

Those biscuits and gravy were a good way to start the morning off with. It's one of my favorite things for breakfast. I got to meet a bunch of Brother Masons, as well as a number of Hiram's Rangers.

RCJ, Here in KY we love biscuits with red eye gravy, country ham, eggs, grits. With the red eye gravy over all the food. Those biscuits we had in Texas sure would have worked fine. Tj

Bro. TJ, My wife makes some mean "redeye" gravy with ham steak and sweet potatoes. We have it with ham and eggs for breakfast too. It's good anytime.
