By a simple process of elimination I will be shooting a 44 mag rossi 1892 for the forseeable future. Since I am not set up to reload anything but 12 gauge shells and if I had the money to buy all I would need to reload 44s I would just get a different rifle. What i need to know is who sells BP 44 mags or do I have another option?
I know they are going to be expensive but this is where i am at the moment. Any help you all can give would be appreciated.

GOEX under their Black Dawg label makes BP rounds in both .44 Special and .44 Magnum.  .44 Special will also work just fine in the '92.  I know I've used .44 Special in mine.  Ten-X also makes a BP .44 Magnum.  Cabelas sells some, but not all.  Powder, Inc. sells the Goex line.  Beyond that I'm not sure where you'd get them since I do alll my own reloading.

Thank you Ransom, I was beginning to think I had asked a bad question. That will give me some places to start.

Several things you won't hear any place else.

The 44 Magnum is a great black powder cartridge.  They didn't plan it that, it just worked out that way.  You don't have to go expensive to load 'em yourself.  Get a LEE Classic Turret press and LEE 44 Magnum dies.  Yer good to go.  The expander die lets you dump your powder thru the die.  You can easily do it with a dipper.

The Mav Dutchman Big Lube™ bullets can take all the pain out of black powder shooting.  I  shot them today at the Rock River Regulators match.  Your guns will never foul out.  Cleanup is a snap with a spritz of Moosemilk and a tug of the Boresnake.

There's much to know, but the essentials are simple, direct and safe.

Happy smoke.

Hey DD, good info. I will check that out ASAP and see if I can make it happen.  I just got finished tuning the 92 according to marauders words of wisdom and directions and it made all the difference in the world. She is not as slick as she could be but the dang thing won't rip your knuckles off trying to work the lever now. I may have to go back in and polish a tad more but I think it would be smarter at this point to shoot her for a while. Lord knows if I'm slow it won't be the rifles fault ;)

Gun Butcher,

You might look for some used equipment too.  I bought my single stage press(an old Pacific C press) for all of $25.  Except for the dies I don't think I have more than $75 in all my reloading equipment that I started with.  As I have gotten into smokeyless reloading I have bought a powder scale and such.  But I started reloading better than three years ago.

So nobody worries about me the only smokeyless cartridges I reload are .45 ACP, 8mm Mauser and 9mm Makarov. ::)

I will start looking around for what you and DD said an see if I can come up with something. Been into BP for 25 years and I reloaded .... one shot at a time so to speak.... but this shiny little brass things look like powder measures to me???? ::)
