The Iowa Muster will be held on 8/16 10:00AM, you can come the day before & setup a tent.
Goddard will have their normal monthly match on 8/17. So if you do bring a non CAS rifle, bring a lever gun & shoot on Sunday also. Goddard has a couple of interesting categories, "Rifleman" shoot 2 rifles, "Josey Wales" shoot 4 revolvers. They also shoot working cowboy. Double action guns are allowed.

The match will be held at Goddard Cowboys range in Colfax, IA. Below is a link to their website.
http://www.goddardcowboys.com/

This will be a GAF match with GAF categories. The shoot will be based upon the "Border War" in Missouri, 2 stages on Quantrill's perspective, 2 from the Federal perspective, & 1 Jay Hawker.

Goddard had a work day, after it was over, I had some loads made up for them to test to ensure properly loaded to CAS loads, we wouldn't damage their targets.

My 6.5x55 135gr with 9.1gr 4227, crono at 1244, load from 30 cal M1 carbine load chart.
My 8x57 200gr with 13.0 gr 4227, crono at 1024, load from 32/40 load chart.
We didn't crono my 45/70, 405 gr with 60 gr pryodex, it hit the target hard, but didn't damage.  The rifle targets will be at about 30 yards, there is no reason to shoot a full load. Please download the 45/70 & 50/70 & rounds of that type.

Congratulations to all.

Dusty, 7 is a pretty respectable mini muster (we're still a young organization) Plus it gives you something to build on.

Thank you for your efforts!

I would also like to congratulate (Bvt) Lt. Col. Dusty Tagalong. Not only did he find the range, he organized and ran the match, wrote scenerios, did all the paperwork, made sure everyone enjoyed themselves, all this while handing me a good old-fashioned butt-whooping on the firing line. Three cheers for the Col. HUZZAH  HUZZAH  HUZZAH[move] Also, the hosting club was very supportive and is looking forward to our return. Several of thier members expressed interest in future GAF activities, and at least one took a membership brochure home. All in all, a very successful venture. Al.[/move]

Yeah, what is that, about 3 SoM's and a Marksmanship award for one match? Not too shabby!

Granny Annie

Hey Dusty, you spelled my name wrong.  It's Granny Annie!   ;)

Must be you're just tired from all the hard work you did to make this shoot happen.  This was the first time I have ever shot a GAF match and I must say I had a ball.  I even got the 1st Place Civilians Costume award.  Cool!!!

I'm hoping you do this at the Goddard Cowboys range again next year!  I know I'll be there.  To anyone who didn't make it -- you missed a whole ton of fun!

THANKS, DUSTY, FOR A JOB WELL DONE!!    ;D

Dusty Tagalon

It wouldn't have been such a butt whooping if we were on equal ground. I was using one of the gamer, 1892 series double actions.

Further review of Balle rifle class standards, I should not have used the 1892 colt DA series, nor any DA for that matter, so I am removing myself from 1st place.
From GAF battle rifle class structure."Forager Scout - Single shot (ejectors allowed) double barrel (No ejectors) or lever action shotgun, single action revolver."

Good job, Dusty!

Sounds like it was a great get-together.

Sometimes small is way too underrated.  I LIKE things kinda small and personal-like!
