I just stumbled across this while looking for information on 18th & 19th century typefaces. The site owner came across a metal box in a dumpster which he took home. He said he had it in a closet for about 6 months before he opened it up. When he did it was full of various papers from the 1800s. He has posted the contents on the internet.

Fabulous!!
The various railroad timetables and passenger schedules are a Godsend. I am always looking for these items.

Thanks Dutch for the tip.

Finding a box like that would be a dream come true! IMHO

There was another site I came across that is full of Clipper Ship trading cards that were used to advertise clipper ships and/or voyages, usually from East Coast ports to San Francisco. These are actually from the 1850s to the early 1860s, so they predate our time period. However, they are still pretty interesting and quite artistic.

I recognize a number of the ships' names.  Those posters are great!  Thanks for posting them, Dutch!

John, as soon as I saw the RR stuff in the 1st bit that Greg posted, I thought of you and knew you'd find something interesting!
