Hi all! was just checking out my spencer rifle in 44-40, can anyone tell me how tight your barrel bands are on the forearm fit?  My rifle seems to have plenty of up and down movement of the band.

Thanks Brett.

I know that the band on the carbine is meant to come off pretty easy so that you can swap it out with a sling swivel band.   I dont know about the rifles but it might be the same with them if I am following your question here.

Yep you followed correctly.  Thanks for the info, I just wanted to make sure the barrel/fore-stock was fitting ok.

I received my infantry rifle(56-50) monday and my bands fit snugly.

Thanks! Do you know what your trigger pulls is?

heavy! though not as bad as my carbine. The sight sitll S**K to! I wonder when they prototype these guns if they use old worn  examples or blueprints. My friend has an original carbine and the sights are nearly identical, except his sights are a 130 years old!

Sorry to go off on the tangent. How does your 44-40 shoot? I took my 56-50 down the other day and tried out a smokeless load using the lyman mould and 8.7 grains of unique, it shot pretty good my carbine liked that load much better.

I can definely see why these guns were so popualr with the troops.

good luck with your rifle!
