Hello, this is my first post. I'm new to SASS (#81510) working on getting started shooting. I'm wondering if anyone has any info about hammerdouble.com. Website doesn't seem to work. would like to get a catalog if they're still in business.

Not trying to ignore you I just don't know anything about the web site that you posted.  I know that you said that you are looking for a catalog but what kind of catalog did they put out?  Guns, parts?  Maybe we can find another way to approach your question.

I've read on some older posts about their brass shotgun shells and roll crimp/reload tools. I don't know if they have a catalog or not. just wondering if anyone knows if they are still around. I'm getting curious about the old style shells and thought about getting a few to play with.

I have used them in the past and like their shotshells.  However, Lucky Irish Tom tried to contact them by phone and left a message with the lady who answered.  Never heard anything back. 

They were a site to buy brass shotshell of most gauges.  Also sold wads and cards.  I have not tried them recently but LIT heard the fellow who ran the place had been pretty sick.  Maybe he gave up on the business.  If so too bad.

Just took a look and it does appear Hammerdouble is no more.  That is unfortunate. 

You might want to take a look at www.rockymountaincartridge.com  Thay also have brass shot shells but their prices are about twice what hammerdouble use to be.  The nice thing about Rocky Mountain Cartridge (as it was with Hammerdouble) is that the shot shells are set to take shotgun primers and they come with a plastic case.  Nice touches.  However for a box of 10 12g it will cost you about $45. 

If you are willing to use rifle primers you can get Mag Tech shells from a bunch of places.  I just prefer to have shotgun primers in my shot shells.

Magtechs take Large PISTOL primers.  I have a box of Hammerdouble cases, a Christmas gift several years ago, but never used them.  The use of 209 primers is overrated IMHO.  They are altered from the original magtechs for 209s, resulting in the necessity to reinforce the base with a nylon bushing.

Sorry to hear that he is not responding.  He had some clever hand tools for loading.  When my son phoned him to order that above mentioned Christmas present, it seemed apparent to him that the lady in question had absolutely no interest in her husbands ' hobby'.

I'll add this for referance, ALCAN used to make all brass shotshells in the 1960's with the head already set up for 209's, I have one lone specimine in my stuff.

I have the Rocky Mountain shotshell Loading kit, their shells IMHO are way over priced.   This game cost enough $$$ you don't need to spend $4.50 @ for shot shells.

Grafs and Midway have the all brass Magtech shot shell empties.  MEC now makes a depriming punch and pistol size primer for their 600 Jr. Mk-V presses.  I've found that CCI-300 large pistol primers give very good ignition with them.

Thank for all the info guys. i may just go with the magtechs, but i don't think they make 10ga. and I've been eyeballin one pretty hard. I'm not shooting at the monthly matches here yet, but i went to watch a few and that black powder looks and smells pretty cool. I think i want to start making smoke with my guns after i get started.

Had some brass 12g shells sent over here (Australia) some time back with dies etc. No problems.

I was sure that Ballistic Products Inc. carried 10 gauge Magtechs, but this is all I could find in their online catalogue.

I'd get set up for 12 gauge first, and then branch out later.  Everything is so much easier to find, and easier to sell on if the need ever comes up.  I'm going through the exercise with 16 gauge at present
