Witch bullets you use ? Is there a mould ? What do you think is best for shooting and hunting it's for a 1876 uberti.
Thank you very much

The original bullet for the .50-95 Express was 300 grains in weight, with a large hollow-point cavity filled with an inverted copper cup of about .22-inch diameter. Look at Buck Stinson's message and wonderful photographs on another thread, where you will see a .50 Express bullet, and original moulds for both hollow-point and solid bullets:

Those are vintage moulds, and quite rare. As far as I know, there is no mould available to-day to cast the hollow-point Express bullet.

Buffalo Arms have bullets and moulds for the .50-95 Uberti 1876, in both 300 and 350 grains:

The classic Lyman mould 515139 is another option, though the cast bullets may need resizing for the Uberti:

The Lee .510 bullet sizer works in a standard reloading press and is inexpensive:

I have the Lyman 515139 and the Buffalo Arms 300-grain moulds, but won't be able to cast bullets, let alone try them in my rifle, for some time. I have used Ten-X .50-95 cartridges loaded with .350-grain bullets and Triple Se7en black powder substitute, and they work well in my .50 calibre Uberti 1876:

I am not a hunter, but I should think that any of these bullets would be very effective on any large game you could hunt in Europe. Others who do hunt with these guns can comment far more usefully. :)

Thanks! It's for hunting wild boars and whynot a big deer.

Sir Charles deMouton-Black

I use the Lyman 515139 bullet in the Swedish rolling block, 12.7 X 44R.  I got it from Midsouth Shooting Supply.  They are usually in stock as the Spencer 56-50 apparently works well with that bullet.  I haven't shot anything with it yet, but I am also working up a load in a Husqvarna model 17 cape gun in 12.7 X 44R and 16 ga., and will definitely try to find a cooperative moose.  My opinion is that a 50-95 express with a 300 to 350 grain lead bullet would be deadly on boar & large deer
