Copy of Colt SAA, blued, 5 1/2" bbl, 44-40 caliber.

Has the ASM markings of Armi San Marco, which I know means they are the actual manufacturer.

Also marked KBI Liberty II, which I THOUGHT was a company
from the Phillipines.

Who markets this gun in the US??
I was told this is an AWA gun.
Is this true????

I will be looking for another.

Thanks

The distributor on a similarly marked pair of pistols was Charles Daly.

I bought a pair and they were junk.

If my memory is correct (don't bet on it  ;D ), ASM used to make these guns for AWA.  When AWA was going out of business before Russell took over, they stopped selling these guns and ASM sold them to KBI, who marked them as Liberty II (to match the Liberty II coach guns from Turkey that KBI was also selling).   Have heard that some of them were atrocious quality (I saw some of those) and some were fine.  KBI was (I think sitll is?) an importer here in the states.  ASM is no longer in business, although the owner now makes guns as Chaparral.

ASM closed it doors some years back (if you see to letters in a box like [BL] = 1998
that is the date code)
Chaparral is the Phoenix that rose from the old company

KBI was an importer  ( also Imported the Turkish Liberty II SXS and some Romainian clones of Auto pistols )

AWA took over the Reigns importing the last of the ASM's around 2000 , AWA faded away re-surfacedand faded again over
customer service

ASM got some bad rap over quality control issues ( truth was they were quite capable at times )
Problem was their fit & finish was questionable because they were selling to importers like Traditions at cut rate
wholesale.
When one finds a good ASM it's not a bad gun, and can be quite nice... some of their Walkers & other C&B's were very nice.
