I started shooting Rugers in 1980.  My first ruger was a 44 mag Redhawk. I still have it, it shoots great. I have never had a porblem with it.

Howdy,

I have been shootin' my Ruger Bisley's, in .45LC & .357's since 2000.  I have never broke anything and the only work done to the . 45's is bead blasting the polished SS.  I had my Rossi '92 bead blasted to match the .45's.  I like them and would not trade for Colts.

I bought my first Ruger, a Black Hawk .44 Magnum Flat Top in 1963.  Don't shoot it much since the Old Model Vaqueros came out, but other than having the transfer bar installed, never had a problem with it.

I did have a problem with the first Old Model Vaquero in .44-40, as the chambers were too tight (common problem in the early #55-XXXXX guns in that caliber).  Ruger replaced the cylinder (I'm pretty sure) with one that would accept .430" bulleted Winchester brass, though they left the throats at .425".  (I get excellent accuracy with hard cast .430" bullets with the tight throats!  Bought another in .44 Mangle-em and had a "loose chamber-tight throat" cylinder fitted to it.  Had a Super Blackhawk cylinder fitted to the first one...got two convertibles.  Been shooting them in SASS matches for about 20 years now.  No problems...so far.

Oh, yeah, I DID break something on a Ruger...broke a fingernail trying to open the loading gate on a brand new one!  ;D

The worst thing I've found about the NEW Model Vaqueros?  Wrong cartridges!  Need .44-40, though a .44 Special might do.  :-\
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

My first Ruger I purchased new in 1968 or 1969. It was a single six convertible in 22 LR and 22 Mag. Since then I've owned a Ruger Bearcat 22 LR, a Mark I , 512 bull barrel 22 LR, a Mark II, 512 bull barrel 22LR, a Super Blackhawk 10 1/2" barrel 44 Mag, a Ruger New Vaquero, 5.5" barrel 357 Mag in stainless, a 77/22 bull barrel in 22 Hornet stainless, a 77/22 stainless in 22LR, a 77/17HMR in blue, a Model 77  243 in stainless and Ruger No. 1 Heavy Barrel Varmint in 22-250. I can honestly say none of them have ever had any operational problems what-so-ever.
The only problem I had was with the 77/22 in 22 Hornet. Had to send it back 3 times to Ruger in order to get it to group decently. The last time they did everything from a trigger job to recrowning the barrel. It's a tack driver now. ;D ;D ;D They never charged me anything for the work. Of the eleven I've owned, I still have seven of them.
I think Ruger is a fine company.

I got my first Ruger, a MKII, in '69.  Have collected and disposed of several, since.  My collection as of now consists of that first MKII, a Bearcat, a SS Single Six, a blue Single Six Convertible, and two OM Vaqueros in .44-40.

I got my first Ruger a few years back when my grandfather's Mark I .22 was passed on to me.  When I got into cowboy action, I bought Vaqueros as they fit me better than any other pistol in the game.  When I decided to get into cap and ball, I bought Old Armys as they are built to the same (TANK!) standard as the rest of my Rugers.

I had to have the feed ramp on Pop's Mark I polished as it didn't like to feed the el cheapo ammo that I was feeding it.  Other than that, no damage to any of my Rugers.  Had a double charged round in one of my Vaqs and was told (after the case was hammered out) that anything other than a Ruger would have come apart under that load.

I now have a Ruger in my defensive line up as well, and am watching out for somebody turning a Gold Label double loose for an obscenely low price.

Started with a 10/22 I bought from my brother-n-law in the 70's.
A Single Six was next in about 1983. A Flattop Blackhawk came quickly after that.
From that time on it's been "Katie bar the door".
Super Blackhawks, "P" model pistols, Security Six's, GP100's, Vaquero's and now New Vaquero's.
None have let me down.

The thing about Rugers is, I just trust them.

Yettoblaster

Started in 1966 with a $69 10/22 from the local hardware store (fer shootin' rats down at the town dump) when I was 16yo.

A friend's convertible Single Six put the bug in me about that time for a handgun too, but that didn't happen until I got a Blackhawk in .41 mag, about 15 years ago.

I just purchased a long time dream: Super Blackhawk in .44mag.

Still on my shopping list are various Ruger long guns (and some more hand irons). ;D

Well,

My 1st ruger was a model 1 with a bull barrel I bought back in 78 when I was shooting bullseye competition.  Only thing I changet out was a jewel trigger and the grips.  I guess I have over 100,000 rds of 22 in it.   Still shoots better than I can.

My next ruger was an old army.  I played around with cap and ball in the early 80 and ended up selling it.   We all do dump things every now and then.

About 8 years ago, I found a Vaquero 4 1/2 in 45 colt in a pawn shop for about 150.   Always wanted a cowboy gun so it went home with me.    Unfortunately, it shot horriable.   A buddy of mine suggested a gunsmith here in Houston that only works on single action.  I took it to him and about 100 later he honed out the cylendars, replaced the springes, worked on the trigger, twisted the barrel, tweeked this and that, and vola, damn thing shoots better than my match gold cup.   SMOOTH too.

So, I traded a few things for another one and took it to him again.   Only thing I shoot now.     Thinking about getting them engraved.   You know, if I cant be the best shooter on the range, by golly, I will be the prettiest.

So now, I've gone old model nuts.  I have a blackhawk in 41 mag, a brisley in 357, and just recently got at a gun show a pair of old model vagueros 5 1/2 SS in 357 with the ajax simulated ivory handles.   Picked those up for my rangeforman.  She dont know it yet but I've been talking with her about coming out and shooting with me.  Her only excuse is that she doesnt have anything to shoot.  he he he   aint I a sneeky one.    Gonna susprise her in September on her birthday with a winchester trapper, the 2 vaqueros, and a 20 gage stoger.

Guess what sweety,     no more excuses!!!!!!!!
