new sights needed

 Needing to put new barrel sights on my chapp.   Any goodones to be had?

I have a Browning model 1886 and have been thinking the same thing.  The Smith ladder sight sold by Buffalo Arms looks like a good choice.  Anyone have experience with this sight?

I mounted a ladder sight (sporting leaf) off of a Browning 1886 SRC on mine.  Works really well.   I will post a pic when I can.

My Chaparral in 45-75 was factory drilled and tapped on the top tang for a tang sight.  The new Lyman No. 2 tang sight for the M'1886 Winchester fits the hole spacing perfectly.  It uses the one tapped hole and the rear tang screw for mounting.  The Chaparral tang screw threads are the same as on originals so no special mounting screws are needed, just use what comes with the sight.

You might try this tang sight if it suits your needs, it did mine.

Don't hold your breath for a Smith rear sight.  BA told me that they had to cancel my order for one as Smith is all tied up with the military now as is Jamison on their brass.  I did get a Winchester rear barrel sight--short staff for my '76.  It looks great and is great and just what I had wanted like the Smith.  This one is on page 129 in their current catalog and sells for $110.00 which is cheaper than the Smith and does the same job.  For a rear tang Sight I got a Marbles and it works fine also.  The only thing that I did with that Winchester sight was file down the factory original front sight to 0.340" so that it shoots where it is suppose to now.  Before I filed that sight the rifle shot low.  That would be an individual preference.  I had thought about getting a bead front sight but this works just as good.
