:)I love my Taylor 72's, they in are in 38's 4 3/4 barrels, where you point is where they shoot! I am doing my best to sell my 44's because i want another pair of open tops, would like them in 45LC, i think I want to cut back to 2 cals.
So what i need from you guys is lots of input on the good and the bad, i havn't seen a open top I don't like (that is a problem) I shoot super light loads but i still want a strong gun, but i cannot pay $1000.00 a piece, i am hopeing to have about $800.00 and i bought my Brand new Taylors for less than that.
i know that i am asking a lot of you guys, but since i am not around anyone that shoots or owns open tops, i need your help! i don't remeber the Gentmans name that helped me out when I bought my 72's.
What I realy love is the 1851 Navy Marshall that Calbela's has, but they are cap and ball, even though they are 44's that would be okay if they could be converted to 44 specials, I allways want something they don't make!! Can these be converted????

I would be most great full for all the advice I can get???

Major 2

Those 51's will be Pietta's and both R&D and Kirst make the drop in cyl. ...the bore Dia. in those is .451 so they will be 45 cal.
45 Schofields ,Cowboy 45's or  45 Colt will chamber ( watch the OAL on the 45 Colt )
The cost for the pair will be under a $ 1000 but not all that much under.

If you want a bit different over your 72 OT's...how about 51 Navy Richard & Mason's or a pair of 51 conversions (Man with no Name ) less the silver snake pricey grip option.
they not 44 or 45 but will complement your present 38's
when planets align...do the deal !
