Here's a  couple shots I lifted off a website called A Fistful of Westerns. It's Angeleyes in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. He's sportin' a Remington, but I can't tell if it's a 1858 with conversion or a 1875. The story takes place during the War Between the States, so it shouldn't be a 1875, but everybody in the movie is shooting cartridges, not c&b, so history it ain't.

In the picture where u can see the barrel, I can't tell if it's hex or round. And you can't see the sight. Anybody know what he's shootin'?

It's a percussion remington with an octagonal barrel. You can see the straight line of the octo barrel on the "face in the dirt" pic. There are brass colored caps on the nipples that seem to protrude out a bit more than normal. Maybe it is a modified gun for firing blanks or just a capped repro. I have some Italian caps from the 70s that are brass colored.

Since I have 14+ guns, I've been called the Imelda Marcos of Cap&Ball. Now, that's a COMPLIMENT!

Howdy Pard,

If I'm not mistaken, "Angel Eyes" is holding a Pietta 1858 "Old Silver" model. I beleive it was converted to fire .38 special blanks as is the norm for the European motion picture industy(.45s are difficult to come by over there).

I don't see how that particular gun can fire a blank cartridge. There is no way to get a cartridge into it. There's no removable back to the cylinder. I think it is a C&B prop gun or repro. For actual shooting scenes there could be any number of blank firing Remingtons but not this one.
