Big Surprise New 1858

I just received another 1858 Remington C&B. It was advertised by the previous owner as a Pietta, blued in .44 cal. Came in yesterday and something struck me odd. The front sight was dovetailed to begin with. Then I noticed that the trigger guard was different. Closer inspection showed it to be tarnished silver plate. "Wait a minute", I thought. And it seemed just a tad bigger than the other 1858's I've had recently. Then it struck me. I had bought a Deluxe 1858 NMA from Navy Arms 16 years ago when I shot NSSA. Asd things usually go, I let it slip away when someone made me a good offer and I had a hankering for something different. So I dug out my Dixie Catalog and an old Navy Arms Brochure from 1992, and sure enough, I just bought a very well-cared for Deluxe 1858. I paid $125 + shipping for a revolver that now sells for $675 new. WOW! I will definitely be keeping this one.

I had originally thought that I would buy this pistol and maybe cut it down. I even have an R&D drop-in cylinder on its way. Needless to say, I will not be cutting it down. I'm wondering whether the R&D will work ok, given that the groove diameter is .456. Has anyone tried this combo? If so, what results did you get?

I just wish I could buy another one at the same price and have a pair. Oh well! BTW, the S/N is A2060. Can anyone tell me the year of manufacture?

Nice going Cllint.  Sometimes ya get real, real lucky.  My first "run of the mill" Pietta '58 shoots so damn good that I really can't see how the "shooters model" can shoot any better ! Haven't had the chance to shoot the other three enough to see if they shoot as well.
