Thinking ahead to the Non-blackpowder season

A question that pertains to off season shooting, for those who live in colder climates and get to shoot indoors where only smokeless is allowed.

Last off season I started reloading using trail boss in 44 Russians with 160 gn 44 Slims that I had purchased from Springfield Slim at http://www.whyteleatherworks.com

These made a nice pop and I felt comfortable shooting them indoors where the steel plates are pretty close.

What I am wondering is if I shouldn't just go to using 44 MAVs in every thing (aside from the shotgun at least)?
My pistols are Type 3 Colt Conversion open tops so I can use the 44 colt and 44 Russians, and my rifle is 44-40 WCF.

Did not know if it was worth dropping to a 40 grain lighter bullet.

I am looking to start casting this year, and the MAVs I am waiting for the inventory to return on those.  And I have not found what Springfield Slim uses for the 44 Slim molds.

All in all I suppose I should get my name on the list with DD for the MAVs and email SS about the Slims...  eh?

This is what happens when it is a slow night at work and I am cut off from email but not news groups! ;D

I admit prejudice, but I think that you should go with your comfort level.  The Mav Dutchman Big Lube™ bullets are very comfortable for me, but I also enjoy the lil EPP-UG 150 grain bullets in my ROAs and 60s.

I'm a primitive, but I don't shoot indoors unless there's something inside my abode that needs immediate killin'.  Were I able to enjoy winter shootin' where I  could stay warm, I suppose I might even load up some Unique and have at it.

Go with yer gut.

Oh, I like the MAV boolits, and the kind of shooting we do in not punishing at all.

I was just noodling about.  I get all worried about damage to the targets, with my 44 Colts using the MAVs. Have to sit back as I am collecting brass after a shooter who is using 44-40s or 45s, I am not going to punish the targets any more than they do.

Hopefully at the end of June going to head up near Beaver Wisconsin and go out with the in-laws and shoot off some black powder rounds for the first time, and get that duelist shooting figured out!  Then when I shoot the next match I can attend in July I can shoot Frontier Cartridge!  Also a long range pistol caliber rifle shoot that month, getting excited to shoot at that with my new rifle, those are 44-40 with MAVs and full load of BP all the way.  May not hit anything, but hope I don't scare no one with giggling between the BOOMs!

Aside from all that, one type of bullet makes the reloading a lot easier!
