I agree on usin one powder fer pistolas !!

BUT what I`m sayin is What powder is good enuf fer ALL yer smokepoles..Pistolas,rifles and scatterguns

I'll go out on a limb, pard.  I think all the varied answers prove exactly what I'm about to say.

Use Either.  Your choice.  Neither one is "better" than the other.  The difference in velocity is pretty minimal.  50 FPS in a rifle that already is doing 1200 - 1300 FPS ... no big deal - for CAS.  Hunting, on the other hand ... well, as Sundance decided, it's maybe worth it.

Stick with the one that's easier to get or if one's cheaper than the other, get it.  I doubt if it'll change your POI from one to the other in a pistol, and hardly any variance in a pistol caliber rifle - unless you bench it, and not much then, either!  Shoot ... the way I shoot (as I get older) I'm happy to hit the target with all the wobbling I do! 

Go with 3F in ALL of 'em.  You'll get more bang for your buck, and the flames will happen.

Do you guys notice more fouling with coarser power over finer powder? I had heard that somewhere, but havent really noticed it.

Myself, I use the same in everything but shotgun, which right now has 777 and pyrodex. Walmart had it on sale, and figured I use so much in shotguns (72 grains) that I might as well use it up that way.
I will be using 1F skirmish in my shotguns, (cheap and back to the 72gr) and will try it in pistols and rifle.
I like to use the same in both rifle and pistol, but really dont have much preference over 2F/3F. When hunting I do load 3F for better burn. DM

I use 3F in both my 38 LC (15 gr - 1851 conversion) and my 45 LC (28 gr - 1866 Yellowboy)...I just figure the little extra over 2F won't hurt in these lighter loads...

2 F is a larger grain size therfore it will burn slower (longer) than 3Fcoming out the end of the barrel

3F in the C&B revolvers, 2F in the .53 Hawken, and "Cartridge" (which Goex sez is about a 2-½F) in all other cartridges, .45 Colt, .40-90SBN, .45-70 & 12 Gauge.

2F in blanks are really impressive all on their own.
