Howdy Pards,

My grand daugher, Meghan, is turning seven (7) this week.  I am not sure that any of you are aware of the fact that my son (her father) passed  away three week ago.  I wanted to make her something kind of special and finally decided that I would take a gunbelt bullet pouch and modify it into a small childs purse.  I engraved her initial on it and will tell her that her father ordered it special for her prior to his passing.

The finish is cherry stained oil

Please accept my deepest sympathy on the loss of your son.

Howdy Pards,

Thank you all for your kind words.  My son was involved in a motorcycle accident a year ago which lleft him a quad.  He developed pneumonia and had stapf infections....he finally went into a coma and flat lined..so my daughter in law was forced to take him off life support.  I have been kind of expecting this for the past year, but when it comes it still is a shock.

Hey Dr. Bob...I also have three.  7,5 and 3.

Again, thanks for the kind words

My grandson just turned seven and this has touched me beyond words.

My condolences.  Give her a hug from me.

I think I'll go call Logan.

So sorry to hear about your loss. It looks like she has a wonderful grandpa to spoil her!

Irish Dave

My deepest condolences and most sincere sympathies, Outrider, I know of what you speak.

I lost my son (and only child) three years ago at the age of 34. His daughter was likewise only 7 years old at the time.
It is a deep wound that never heals and only those who have lost a child can fully appreciate the gravity of it. I know that I did not until it happened to me.

I know your granddaughter will love the purse. It is wonderful work but may have been the most difficult piece you have ever done -- or ever will.

God Bless her and you and may the Lord hold your son in the gentle palm of His hand forever.

Outrider -

Terrible.  I'm very sorry for your loss.

Unfortunately, Irish Dave is right.  At best, one learns to set aside the time to allow for grieving.  Although it will become easier to deal with, nobody ever gets over it.  Others will move on with their lives sooner than you "move on" with yours and will forget that you are on a different track.  Don't hesitate to tell your friends when you're not having a good day.

That was a fine gift for your grand daughter.  No doubt a comfort for both her and you.

I look forward to your continued presence here.

I've got my excuses and I'm stickin' to 'em.
