Howdy,

I'm in need of a carrier and regular hammer (not the one which goes with a set trigger) for a medium frame (32-20) model.  If there are differences (I'm not sure) mine was made in 1885 with 1883 patent dates only.  If anyone has these or can steer me the right way, I'd be a happy shooter again.

I'm looking at a Lightning 44-40 at a local gun shop that is in need of a firing pin.  The tip is broken off of the install pin.  Can anyone recommend a source for such a part?

Get a hold of Gary Grainger of USFA as their guns were almost exact copies of the originals and many parts are supposed to be interchangeable. WBR

Contact Eldon Penner, Penner Lightning Rifles, in Gardnerville, NV.  He is the west coast guru for Lightning riflles, original and reproductions.  HEPENNER@aol.com.

He has rebuilt an original, large frame for me in 45-85-285 (45-70) and has custom built an AWA medium frame for me in 45 Colt.  Both function flawlessly.

Dammit all why couldnt I be  living in the US of A - I have a medium frame Lightning in .44-40 which is surplus to requirements and would love to find a good home for it! The barrel is its redeeming feature as the bore is near perfect.
I never have fired it though as I always shoot my Whitney Kennedy.
